Did the Republican oppostion to the Public Option backfire on them?

It doesnt matter what was in the bill, the fact that it ped is what has really screwed us. Even the congress people didnt care about the details. They just wanted to p something so that they could get their foot in the door of our healthcare system...but you will propbably never understand that
