Fluorescent vs. incandescent stairway fixture?

I'm going to add two stairway light fixtures on the top part of my ceiling for accent lighting (movie room). I have install a dimmer switch (I know I can't use this with a fl. bulb). Was wondering which would be a better choice for the price and lighting needs. I'd really like to go with the fluorescent, but the dimming feature is always nice. Plus, I figure eventually compact fl. bulbs will be dim-able or LED. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
